As the seasons shift, there’s something about summer that invites us to move more, feel lighter, and soak up the sun. Whether you're chasing toddlers around the yard, walking the dog before it gets too hot, or squeezing in a few stretches between school drop-offs and Zoom calls — summer is a perfect time to refresh your fitness mindset.
We asked our founder, LaReine Chabut, to share her favorite tips for staying active, energized, and motivated during the warmer months. With over 15 years of experience helping moms feel strong in every season of life — including her best-selling book Lose That Baby Fat and her hit MSN web series Focus on Feeling Better — LaReine’s approach to wellness is both real and results-driven. Here's what she recommends this summer:
🌿 1. Keep It Simple + Seasonal
“You don’t need to overhaul your routine. Start with small shifts like walking in the mornings before it heats up or doing 10-minute workouts during nap time.”
Summer is busy — keep your movement short and sweet. Use the season to your advantage by taking walks, swimming, or trying a quick bodyweight circuit in your backyard.
💧 2. Hydrate (Way More Than You Think)
“Staying hydrated is your summer superpower. It boosts your energy, metabolism, and even your mood.”
Add electrolytes or citrus slices to your water to make it more enjoyable. Try setting a timer to remind you to sip throughout the day.
☀️ 3. Make Movement Social
“Invite a friend to walk with you, or let the kids join your yoga flow. Fitness doesn’t have to be isolating — especially in summer!”
Being active with others helps you stay consistent and turns movement into connection time.
🧘♀️ 4. Stretch + Breathe Daily
“Even five minutes of mindful breathing and stretching can reduce stress and make you feel more grounded.”
Try LaReine’s go-to: a gentle forward fold, seated twists, and 3 deep belly breaths before bed or first thing in the morning.
🎯 5. Focus on How You Feel, Not Just How You Look
“Shift your goal from getting a 'summer body' to feeling stronger, lighter, and more alive in your body.”
Progress isn’t only measured on the scale — it’s in your energy, mindset, and confidence.
👟 Bonus Tip: Don’t Overthink It
“Movement counts — whether it’s cleaning the house, dancing in the kitchen, or chasing your kids. It all adds up.”
Stay consistent, be kind to yourself, and find the joy in moving — even if it's imperfect.
This summer, let your fitness routine serve you — not stress you. Whether you're in a season of rest, rebuilding, or reinvention, you deserve to feel strong and supported every step of the way.
